Today we received a "big cheque" from the NSW State Government as part of their Local Sports Grants for 2020. We're very excited to have received this and it's going to allow our team to purchase new uniforms for everyone as well as provide our entry fees to play at The Great Southern Slam in a National Tournament next year. Derby Fest 2020 was a complete success! These fabulous folk couldn’t wait for league practice to return and just had to lace up and skate yesterday! It was a really fun day dusting off the cobwebs and rolling around. Last night a bunch of our Central Coast Roller Derby United members participated in the Sydney Roller Derby League - Stranger Things Battle of Starcourt. It was another fun night of pot luck teams. There were lots of CCCRDU and S2D2 players in both games with a sold represent from the central coast with OCD’s Hayley Damage as well. On Sunday a few of our skaters did some crazy amazing things! Last night five of Central Coast Roller Derby United's members played in NRDL's home team bout (round 2). This was the Bogeys vs Hellcats. They all did a really amazing job. Wolfie, who normally plays for the Fort Smashleys, went along as a spectator last night but when the Bogey's team was short a player she donned a uniform and her skates and stepped in like a true champion sports woman. The theme was birds of paradise 💐 in honour of Two-Ton Teyla who organised the first roller derby group at Mardi Gras 10 years ago 🌈.
